Christos Christou sculptor

I was born in Cyprus in 1967 and I have studied architecture, qraduating in 1995 with a Land Art project as a thesis, intitled "Myth-historical Topography", which was a complex of spacial interventions in a specific landscape of Cyprus. Following that I was awarded with the scholarship for sculpture from the National Institute of Scholarships of Greece and I studied in K.I.A.D. in Canterbury,
England, where I received a masters degree in fine Art in the year 2000.
I am a sculptor, dealing with the matters of form and space. My main subject is the human figure and how it is placed in space and time. My work has a morphology which reflects a relation with the history of art from the ancient to the contemporary.
The element of local history and the relation it has with the antiquity and the meditteranean civilisations ,is particularly important to the development of my artistic style.
